History of Forensic Science Workshop

In recent decades forensic sciences have gained a more central role in legal systems across the world. As a result, the interest in the origins and the social and cultural context in which forensic innovation emerges has grown considerably as well. Understanding the context in which forensic sciences develop is central to both legal history and the history of science and medicine: it allows us to reflect on the ways in which such expertise is constructed, in an effort to better assess the ways in which forensic science and expertise is brought to bear upon litigation in the present.
